“Racism Conference” is an important local event developed every year in the context of a local network with the coordination of the municipality. This network includes different departments of Gijón City Council (Social Services, development Local Agency for Economy Development and Employment, Second Chance  School, Youth Office and Equality Politics Office), Migrants Association in the city, Trade Unions and different  Educational Centres of formal and non-formal education.

The “View’n’Act” project was focused on the development of a framework about film as a pedagogical tool in adult education. The project investigated the power of the moving image in articulating attitudes and shaping cultures towards social issues such as migration, gender equality and social justice.

“Toolbox” is an Information Technology (IT) instrument with a website (www.ingrado.nl/maakhetzelf : 'make it yourself') to stimulate teachers, trainers and local authorities to organise a comprehensive approach to prevent dropouts in education by giving advises, examples, inspiring projects and the challenge to participate in the processes. The tool builds on the fact that the prevention of dropouts in education is not only schools’ responsibility, but it is a mission of the (local) society as a whole.

The PLUSvoorziening is a relative new (2009) incentive by the Dutch government to reduce drop-out rates in education, at least to keep students/youngsters within school in order to get a qualification. The funds of the project are not so much used to create a new organisation/government body, but to connect the existing ones and to empower/encourage school counsellors to search for options in case of possible drop-out.

The House of the Bears is an unique and playful world of its own. It is an experiencing built space and program for the joy and stimulus of  :

-          storytelling : get the best stories out of the visitors

“Telling a Story in 6 Pictures” is a method that uses 6 pictures to tell or to visualize the story of a personal situation, in the school context or in a context where young people are developing relationships one with each other. The method was created by a television transmitter (WDR – WestdeutscherRundfunk). The main aim of the transmitter was to put students in contact with photos and videos, providing all the specific tools needed by the students.

Shop till you drop establishes a pedagogical process, using simulation software. It is a game to show how different life is in an underdeveloped country like Mexico, compared with the United States of America (USA).

That way the project aims at teaching and transmitting a better understanding of the real situations of migrants and what is their main aim into coming to look for work in developed countries.

Me as a European Citizen is a programme full of creative tools and activities. The participants are introduced to contemporary art and are stimulated to create new pieces by themselves working as a team. At the end of the programme, the participants have to organise an exhibition with their own work and with the work of other artists.
